60th meeting of the Executive Committee

11 February 2022

 

  1. The Executive Committee held its 60th meeting on 11 February 2022. The meeting took place in a virtual setting with the following participants: Markus Kummer (Chair), Amrita Choudhury, Anriette Esterhuysen, Wisdom Donkor, Fiona Asonga, Nigel Hickson; IGFSA Secretariat Jennifer Chung, Edmon Chung, Rebecca Chan. Apologies were received from Chris Mondini and Joyce Chen. A quorum was established for the meeting, with six of the eight Executive Committee members taking part in the call.

 

  1. The Agenda was adopted as circulated to the EC mailing list. The Summary Record of the 59th EC meeting was adopted to be posted on the IGFSA website. The Summary Record for the IGFSA 2021 General Assembly was also approved as a draft to be posted on the IGFSA website, pending ratification by the IGFSA membership at the 2022 IGFSA General Assembly.

 

  1. The Chair welcomed and introduced the new IGFSA EC member Fiona Asonga. Fiona expressed her enthusiasm to be joining the IGFSA EC and noted she will be looking forward to working closely with the EC members to further the IGFSA mission. EC members welcomed Fiona and noted that it would be good to explore partnerships with institutions in the Africa region.

 

  1. The Chair gave an update of the IGFSA banking situation. He mentioned that there was continued communication exploring the possibilities of banking with HSBC, specifically looking at HSBC, NY. In addition, there is communication with several options in Switzerland, including Post Finance, Geneva. The Secretariat gave an overview of the possibility of using a non-traditional banking method via solely online banking solutions. The Secretariat took an action to research the logistics of the online accounts. The Chair noted that extensions were requested from UBS as well as regarding the Swiss VAT payment.

 

  1. It was agreed that Fundraising should be taken on a separate dedicated call led by Chris Mondini to onboard the new EC members on the fundraising plan for 2022. The Secretariat took an action to send a doodle to schedule the Fundraising call in two weeks, in between the monthly EC calls.

 

  1. The Secretariat noted that the next IGFSA newsletter will be featuring the new EC members and will have more details after the Secretariat team meets internally regarding the framework for the newsletter.

 

AOB

  1. It was agreed that the frequency of the EC calls should be once every 4 weeks with updates regarding the banking situation to be sent to the EC mailing list and communication channels as necessary. Topic-specific calls can be scheduled in-between full EC calls on a case-by-case basis.
