 66th Executive Committee call (no quorum met)

Tuesday 18 October 2022

 

  1. The Executive Committee held a meeting on 18 September 2022. The meeting took in a virtual setting, with the following participants: Markus Kummer (Chair), Amrita Choudhury, Nigel Hickson, Chris Mondini; IGFSA Secretariat Jennifer Chung. Apologies were received from Anriette Esterhuysen. A quorum was not established for the meeting.

 

  1. There was discussion on preparing the General Assembly, including preparing the following documents, announcements and reports:
    1. Notification to membership
    2. Draft agenda for the GA
    3. Summary record of the 2021 GA
    4. Activity report
    5. Financial reportIt was noted that there will be the upcoming IGFSA EC Elections as well. The Secretariat took an action to draft an EC Elections timeline and also the 2022 Elections procedure.
  1. The Chair gave a brief status report on finances and noted that the agreement has been signed with ICANN and funds should be received in a few weeks. It was also noted that there has been no response from the NRO as of yet. Regarding the Google sponsorship via the Tides Foundation, an activity report is required as part of the agreement.

 

  1. The Secretariat noted there are several funding requests coming down the pipeline including some that have been having some difficulties with banking requirements and information.

 

  1. It was noted that the IGFSA mailer was sent out with the IGF newsletter. There was further discussion regarding how to announce funding decisions in a public way (for example via social media), and include photo/social media handle request in funding decision communications back to the NRIs supported. This will make it easier for EC members and others to repost as appropriate.

 

  1. AOB
    1. It was mentioned that during the last call, there was a note to source local outreach items for IGFSA. The Secretariat took an action to follow up with Fiona Asonga.
    2. Next EC meeting: Doodle poll to be sent out for week of Monday 14 November.
    3. Administrative tasks currently handled by Chair to be transferred to Secretariat: contract paper work with donor organizations
