80th meeting of the Executive Committee

25 July, 2024

  1. The Executive Committee held its 80th meeting on 25th July 2024. The meeting took place in a hybrid setting with the following participants: Amrita Choudhury (chair), Flavio Wagner, Fiona Asonga, Anriette Esterhuysen, Wisdom Donkor, Chris Mondini and Joyce Chen, and from the Secretariat team: Phyo Thiri Lwin. Apologies were received from Nigel Hickson (Treasurer). A quorum was established for the meeting, with seven of the nine Executive Committee members taking part.
  2. The Agenda was adopted as circulated, and the summary record of the 79th meeting is approved to be posted on the IGFSA website.
  3. Update on Outreach and engagement in July and Outreach Engagement Plan for Regional IGFs and IGF 2024
  • During the meeting, key outreach activities were updated, including those at the African IGF and EuroDIG, and engagement activities at APrIGF were discussed. There was a discussion about the costs and colors of T-shirts. It was mentioned that the quantity might be over 40 pieces, with prices ranging from 40 HK Dollars to 14-20 USD per T-shirt, and it was suggested to add a larger logo. Further discussion about the slogan for distribution at APrIGF 2024 and IGF 2024 was conducted through an email thread. Joyce updated that the APrIGF Program Committee will allocate time for IGFSA during the housekeeping part.
  1. Funding Request and Disbursement Status
  • Phyo shared the update about funding requests and ongoing pending requests which was provided by Jennifer before the meeting. It was requested to send the proposals to EC within 15 or 20 days. The proposals were reviewed by EC. Several requests for funding were confirmed, including the approved amount as follows:
    • Youth IGF Myanmar – $1,500
    • South East Asian Youth IGF – $1,500
    • Hong Kong YIGF – $1,000
    • Lebanon IGF – $1,500
    • 2024 Liberia IGF Week – $2,000
    • Uganda IGF – $2,000
    • Panama IGF – $2,000
  • Phyo informed the EC that IGFSA received another funding request from another Lusophone Internet Governance Forum with a different focal point and was still checking with Anja Gengo for eligibility.
  1. Membership Updates
  • Phyo provided updates on the new membership submissions: we received a new member on February 1, March 27, June 6 and June 18, respectively.

  • The next meeting is confirmed for August 29, and Phyo will send a Doodle poll to determine the meeting times.
