82nd meeting of the Executive Committee

10th October, 2024

  1. The Executive Committee held its 82nd meeting on 10th October 2024. The meeting took place in a virtual setting with the following participants: Amrita Choudhury (chair), Flavio Wagner, Fiona Asonga, Anriette Esterhuysen, Wisdom Donkor, Chris Mondini and Nigel Hickson (Treasurer), and from the Secretariat team: Jennifer Chung and Phyo Thiri Lwin. A quorum was established for the meeting, with seven of the nine Executive Committee members taking part.
  2. During the call, the agenda was reviewed and was accepted without objections. The summary record of the 81st meeting is approved to be posted on the IGFSA website.
  3. It was mentioned that NRO approved US$ 25,000 Funding to support IGFSA.
  4. It was mentioned that the IGF Secretariat had asked if IGFSA can receive the Kaspersky grant of  US$10,000 for African Parliamentarians.
  5. Update on Outreach and engagement at ICANN81 and Outreach Engagement Plan at IGF 2024
    • It was informed that the IGFSA General Assembly session is confirmed at IGF 2024 on Day-0 from 13:15 to 14:15 PM.
    • The outreach and engagement session is still pending the date and time to confirm at ICANN81 in Turkey. And, there was a suggestion to invite IGF Secretariat at ICANN81’s IGFSA meeting as it was supposed to have a formal discussion about IGFSA’s Articles of Association.
  1. Funding Request and Disbursement Status
  • It was noted that the funding request proposals were shared to EC a few days ago. Jennifer shared the update about funding requests and ongoing pending requests.
  • Jennifer was to follow up with Michael on the pending payments and get them processed.
    • Several requests for funding were confirmed, including the approved amount as follows:
    • Armenian Internet Governance Forum 5 – $2000
    • IGF Central Africa – $3000
    • Togo Internet Governance Forum – $2000
    • Internet governance forum in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BH IGF) – $2000
    • Cambodia Youth Internet Governance Forum – $1500
    • 17th Latin America and Caribbean Internet Governance Forum – $3000
  • It was noted that Flavio will provide more information about 9° YouthLACIGF 2024 for deciding the funding amount while Wisdom will check more information for Youth IGF Burundi 2024.
  • While it was agreed to support India Youth IGF, Jennifer CHUNG to check with 7th Youth IGF India Annual Forum team for the support to fill the budget gap. Additionally, it was mentioned the linkage between Ghana Youth IGF and Ghana IGF for confirming the funding amount.
  1. Finance Update by Treasurer
  •  The account balance stands at 359 CHF in the admin account and $120,000 USD in the main account excluding $15,000 USD in processing.

  •  Secretariat to send a Doodle poll to determine the meeting times for the next call. It is also noted that Phyo will share T-shirt quotations  via email after the call.
